Practical Joke’s Keeneland September Led by $975,000 Filly

It was an average of $314,750 for Practical Joke during the first two books of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale when his 12 sold were led by a $975,000 filly.

Purchased by Lael Stable from Norevale Farm, the Jim Wasserson-bred filly is out of the stakes winning Collegeville Girl. That Central Banker mare has already crossed incredibly well with Practical Joke with the pair producing last year’s Canadian champion He’s Not Joking from the mare’s first foal to race.

Collegeville Girl is out of a half-sister to the Grade III-placed Welcome Guest and a great-granddaughter of Grade I winner Glitter Woman, who produced Grade I winner Political Force.

Amo Racing was the buyer of a $950,000 Brian Kahn-bred Practical Joke filly offered by Bedouin Bloodstock out of Daring Darling.

That mare has two winners from three to race with the group including multiple stakes placed Princess Adaleigh. There were multiple stakes updates on this page in recent months with Daring Darling’s half-brother Norther Flame placing second in the Polynesian Stakes and third in the Rumson Stakes. Meanwhile, Daring Darling’s half-sister is also the dam of Schuylerville Stakes second and Bolton Landing Stakes third My Sweetheart.

Daring Darling is a granddaughter of stakes winner and successful broodmare Darling My Darling. That mare’s Grade I winning daughter Heavenly Love is the dam of champion and recent Grade I Whitney Stakes winner Sierra Leone, who will join Practical Joke at Ashford at the end of his racing career. Darling My Darling also produced Grade II winner Forever Darling, who is the dam of dual Grade I winner Forever Darling. A third runner out of Darling My Darling recently added more blacktype to the page when third in the Manitoba Mile Stakes.

Practical Joke’s other offerings sold for $335,000, $260,000, $250,000, etc. with the stallion set to have 50 more on offer during the second week of the sale.
