
Sale Topper for Practical Joke at Fasig-Tipton New York Bred Yearling Sale
It was a sale topper for Practical Joke this week when his $525,000 colt shared the top spot at the Fasig-Tipton New York Bred Yearling Sale.
The Indian Creek consigned colt was purchased by Sallusto and Kimmel as agent for MWG during the second session. He is a half-brother to six winners from six to race out of Cuello de Luna, including seven-time winner Sundaeswithsunday.
The gray yearling bred by Stone Bridge Farm sees his stakes placed dam Cotopaxi also the dam of nine winners, including stakes winner Neck of the Moon, who produced Grade III Best Pal third Neck of the Moon. Overall, there are 21 stakes winners under the four dams on the page with seven other stakes performers.
Practical Joke is also the sire of the third most expensive yearling of the sale after Repole Stable bought a $500,000 filly from Hunter Valley Farm.
Bred by Dutchess Views Farm, SGO Thoroughbred, and Winding Road Thoroughbreds, the filly is a three-quarter sister to three-time winner That’s Money and half-sister to two other multiple winners out of Our Hope Diamond. Our Hope Diamond is a half-sister to Grade II winners Inside Straight and Dance Daily and two other stakes performers with one of her unraced sisters producing the stakes placed Dance Rhythms. In demand at the sales this year, Practical Joke had two sold from three offered with the duo averaging $512,500.
