500,000gns Colt A Tattersalls Book 1 Highlight For Blackbeard

A well-related colt from the first crop of dual Group 1 winner Blackbeard sold to MV Magnier and White Birch Farm for 500,000gns at Tattersalls Book 1 on Wednesday.

Consigned by Glenvale Stud, the yearling is in possession of a very current pedigree as his half-brother Arizona Blaze captured Group 1 success in the Flying Five Stakes last month.

Arizona Blaze had also landed the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes and finished a neck second in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot.

Magnier said of the son of Blackbeard: "He's a very good horse. Flash [Conroy of Glenvale Stud] always spoke very highly of him. Blackbeard is having a good sale."

The first session of Book 1 on Tuesday saw the Blackbeard half-sister to Sunday's Prix de l'Opera heroine Barnavara (by Calyx) sell to Ralph Beckett for 450,000gns.
