Australia Filly Off The Mark At The Second Attempt
The promising Siam Ruby (3f Australia - Ruby Power, by Kodiac) got off the mark with a straightforward success at Lingfield on Saturday.
A homebred for King Power Racing, Siam Ruby finished a fine fourth on debut at Chelmsford last month and was duly sent off a warm favourite to strike at the second attempt.
Trained by Ralph Beckett, the daughter of Australia made all under Edward Greatrex and was always doing enough up the home straight to win by a length and a half over Genuine Warrior (by Saxon Warrior).
Siam Ruby is out of a close relation to first-past-the-post 1,000 Guineas winner Jacqueline Quest, the dam of Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf scorer Line Of Duty and Group 3 winner and Group 1 Prix de l'Opera runner-up Jackie Oh among five black-type winners or performers.
