Impressive Winning Debut For Australia’s Shosholoza

Shosholoza (2c Australia - Ecosse, by Acclamation) made an eye-catching start to his career with an emphatic score at Tipperary on Sunday.

The Joseph O’Brien-trained colt was held up in rear early on but made headway after two furlongs. The son of Australia made up further ground in the final two furlongs before taking up the lead and scoring by an impressive five-and-a-half-lengths.

Winning jockey Wayne Hassett said: “I didn’t want to hit the front too soon in case he might idle but he put his head down and stayed at it.

“He did it nicely in the last furlong and handled the ground well."

“He was keen and plenty green and will learn a lot from that. Hopefully he’ll go on and win more.”

Australia's excellent season has been highlighted by Epsom and Irish Derby hero Lambourn, as well as Coronation Stakes heroine Cercene and Irish Oaks runner-up Wemightakedlongway.

Shosholoza is a homebred for Whisperview Trading Ltd.
