
Blackbeard’s First Yearlings Bound For Arqana
Yearlings from the first crop of No Nay Never's top-class juvenile Blackbeard will sell at the upcoming Arqana August and v2 Sales in Deauville.
Among the six-strong offering at Arqana is Haras de l’Hotellerie’s colt from the family of top-class miler Solow and Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes winner Thistle Bird.
Camas Park Stud offers a colt out of an Exceed And Excel half-sister to French Group and Listed winners Keratiya and Kerasona.
La Motteraye Consignment will offer two by Blackbeard, including a filly out of the stakes-placed Flying Candy from the family of this year’s Group 1 Falmouth Stakes heroine Cinderella's Dream. The operation will also consign a colt out of Dubawi mare Silver Button, a relation to Group 1 Melbourne Cup winner Cross Counter.
Haras du Cadran’s colt is in turn a grandson of the Group-placed Kartica, dam of Group 1 Coronation Stakes and Prix Rothschild winner Qemah and Japanese Grade 1 scorer Ask Victor More.
In addition, Elevage de Tourgeville’s filly is out of the winning Sea The Stars mare Sea Galaxy, a daughter of black-type performer Ninas Terz. Ninas Terz is a half-sister to Hong Kong champion Pakistan Star.
The v2 Sale, which follows on from the August Sale, includes two fillies by the Group 1 Prix Morny and Middle Park Stakes winner.
Haras de Montaigu’s filly is out of the well-bred Showcasing mare Cantonade, a half-sister to Galileo’s Group 3 winner and Irish 1,000 Guineas-placed Oh Goodness Me. It is a family which traces back to Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes winner Lemon Souffle.
The second offering, from Haras du Hoguenet, is a filly out of the winning Penny’s Picnic mare Spring Street. The yearling hails from the black-type family of Grade 1 Canadian International Stakes winner Mutamam.
Blackbeard, himself a 270,000gns purchase as a foal, is a brother to this year’s Group 2 Norfolk Stakes winner Charles Darwin, being out of Moyglare Stud Stakes fourth Muirin. His second dam is the Group-winning sprinter Girouette.
