Maxios Four-Year-Old Goes One Better

Mad Maxios (4g Maxios – La Premiere Dame, by Poliglote) took another step forward on Saturday to get off the mark in the four-year-old hurdle at Chepstow.

The Harry Derham-trained bay finished fourth on debut in February and went on to be narrowly denied by Star Of Guiting (Vadamos) last month. Partnered by Harry Reed on his third start, he tracked the leader for much of the two-mile contest and was asked to quicken approaching the second last. Ridden before the final flight, he rallied on the run-in to beat the more experienced Uhtred Ragnarson by half a length, the pair finishing 17 lengths clear of the third.

Owned by Mark and Maria Adams, Mad Maxios becomes the first winner out of his dam. He was bred by Ballinaroone Stud and hails from Maxios’ first crop conceived at Castlehyde Stud.
