Midnight Jet (maxios) Wins On Debut At Killarney

Maxios Four-Year-Old Makes Smart Debut

Midnight Jet (4g Maxios – Ballinderry Moth, by Yeats) shaped like a smart prospect when making a winning debut in Sunday’s bumper at Killarney.

Derek O’Connor partnered Sam Curling’s newcomer, who was pushed along turning for home and disputed with the joint-favourite from two furlongs out. Rallying to assert in the final 110 yards, he went on to win by a length and three quarters, as the pair finished seven and a half lengths clear of the field.

Speaking after the race, Sam Curling said: “His dam won this bumper (in 2015) and Marine Nationale, who is his uncle, also won a bumper here. He is a very talented horse and will be sold now I'd say. We've liked everything he has done and his dam was a good mare, but got hurt. It is a great family.”

Curling trained his dam, a daughter of Yeats, to gain black-type. His latest winner was bred by Daniel Breen and hails from Maxios’ first crop conceived in Ireland.
