Maxios Four-Year-Olds Prove Popular At Cheltenham

Maxios’ first four-year-olds conceived at Castlehyde Stud have made a smart start between the flags, and at Thursday’s Tattersalls Cheltenham Festival Sale, two sold for six-figure sums.

The Rob James-trained Hot To Go (4g Maxios – Taylor, by Presenting) made a promising debut at Lisronagh last month, when chasing home Cooltobecareless (Maxios), the pair finishing 12 lengths clear of the third. The potential he showed saw William Twiston-Davies and the Options O Syndicate give £165,000 for the bay.

A few lots later, Hamish Macauley and Rebecca Menzies went to £150,000 for another promising type in Shukran Habibti (4f Maxios – First Act, by King’s Theatre). The Robert Tector-trained bay was sent off favourite on debut at Borris House earlier this month, and finished well to get within a length and a half of the winner Chosen Comrade (Walk In The Park).
