
Maxios Gelding Joins George Mernagh Bumper Honour Roll
I’m Slippy (4g Maxios – Molly’s Affair, by King’s Theatre) emerged as an exciting prospect when landing the valuable George Mernagh Memorial Sales Bumper on debut.
Trained by Robert Tyner for Brendan Keogh, the bay was settled in midfield by Josh Williamson and began to make headway from four furlongs out. Ridden to challenge approaching the final furlong he ran on well to lead close home, asserting by half a length on the line.
“He’s never disappointed me since I put my hand on him,” said the winning trainer. “He’s a tall, athletic horse. I was concerned was he too nice to be a real good horse. He’s had a beautiful temperament from the word go.”
A break is now on the cards for I’m Slippy, who hails from Maxios’ first crop conceived at Castlehyde Stud. Tyner’s €70,000 purchase was bred by Thomas Stanley.
