Smart Four-Year-Old Winner By Maxios
Smokehouse (4g Maxios – Crystal Pearl, by Beat Hollow) justified strong market support on debut, as he ran out a smart winner of Sunday’s four-year-old maiden at Belclare.
Andy Slattery’s charge was sent off favourite under Adam Ryan and chased the leaders for much of the way. Leading from the 11th fence, he held a four-length advantage with two to jump and kept on to score by a length and a half from strong finisher Sense Of Occasion (Soldier of Fortune). The front pair finished 10 lengths clear of the strung-out field.
Bred by Paul Rothwell, Smokehouse hails from Maxios’ first crop of four-year-olds conceived in Ireland.
