Well-Bred Maxios Filly Lands First Win Over Hurdles
The well-bred Cousin Kate (4f Maxios - Augusta Kate, by Yeats) claimed her first success when striking over hurdles at Tramore on Thursday.
The Denis Hogan-trained filly was held up by Daniel King in the early stages and came to take third spot before the final flight. She came home strongly to strike by two-and-a-quarter lengths over Maxicourt (by Maxios).
King said of Cousin Kate: "She did [show a little bit the last day at Listowel]. It wasn't the strongest of races on paper today and it kind of fell apart in front of me, but they all take winning and it was good.
"She's out of a good mare [Augusta Kate], so hopefully she can build on that and win plenty more races."
Cousin Kate was bred by Kevin Doyle.
